Halloween Party

And a few other stragglers...

Miriam 10/21/10 and POTD 10/21/10: Laundry day! Actually, every day seems to be laundry day around here. Mimi is still spitting up all the time, so that means new clothes for her sometimes multiple times a day, and when she gets mommy, that's just more. Always laundry to be done. Always. But it's good to know I've got a helper.

POTD 10/22/10: Bad news. My camera was sitting about 3 steps up the stairs, and Mac tripped on it, sending it down said stairs to land on our tile entryway. Ugh. (Mac was totally fine--didn't even stumble, really, so I can be worried about the camera.) My prime lens was on it, and now it won't take pictures in focus. It's a costly repair, and now some of my birthday money is going to have to go towards getting it fixed. You can barely tell this is Leiden! On other bad news fronts, Mimi went down the entire flight of stairs to our basement today. I was on the computer and didn't even know the older girls had gone downstairs. Ironically I was researching prime lens repair, when I heard the telltale thump. Immediately I knew what was happening and went racing around the corner just in time to see her sprawl at the bottom. She is fine, and all is well, but I am now a Nazi about the basement door.

And now on to happier things. I was up until 1:00 AM the night before our Halloween party finishing my costume. It turned out so well! (Unfortunately, I'm looking through our pictures and I don't see any that really show the costume in full. I'll have to put it on one of these days and take some full body shots.) Here's the mask.

Naomi's spider web dip.

Drs. David and Eliza Wilson

Brad and Angelina. (Naomi's lips were the best part of the costume, which was complete with a pregnant belly and sharpie tattoos.)

A top shot. I'll be converting the mask into a true masquerade mask with a stick on the side.
Head Cheerleader and Quarterback Taylor:
One of the games was the eating the donut off the string game, which of course I lost. Was there any other possible outcome? Luckily they did not follow through with the losing dare.
I thought I was pretty smart, using Brad's shoulder (he was next to me) to anchor the donut. I was laughing too hard to get any down, though.
I finally ended up using my own shoulder.
POTD 10/23/10: The group.
It was a fun and kind of cheesy party. I need to remember next year that if I throw a party, it will not be at my house. I ended up changing diapers and putting out little girl fires even though we had babysitters there.

Black Markers

This whole set cracks me up. Mimi, in her under the table travels, came across a black marker that the girls had dropped on the floor. This was the result. For some reason she was really animated, so these pictures are hilarious! I'm going to have a hard time choosing Miriam 10/20/10:

Bathtime Fun

Miriam 10/19/10: Can't take pictures of Mimi in the bath because she's wily, so we take pictures after!

POTD 10/19/10: Mac with a cute smile and a bathtime clean face!

Randomness

One of the girls went out the door and left it open a bit, so Mimi charged over there--she is getting fast--and peeped out the door.

Miriam 10/15/10: She seemed pretty pleased with her initiative.

POTD 10/15/10: Leiden had some friends over and after they left, this is what I found in the main floor bathroom. Yes, that's the toilet. I didn't even know they had gone in there. Not exactly the most er...pristine place to play.

Miriam 10/16/10:

POTD 10/17/10: Even though today was Sunday, Brad had had enough of the drafts that come in through this window. So he took it off its frame and put some weather stripping in. He did not intend to work like this on the Sabbath. I think the little task of just looking at why it was drafty turned into a larger scale project.

The trees are losing their leaves--the ones that are actually on our property have all shedded completely. If only leaves stayed in the property the tree is in.

Miriam 10/17/10: Mimi zooms all over the place, now, including under the table and chairs. She has not, however, figured out how to move backwards. So she goes under the chairs and then cries to get out.

Miriam 10/18/10: She didn't learn last night, so she tried again this morning.

POTD 10/18/10: Today is Monday, but it is the day I discovered Leiden's school pictures in her back pack! I didn't even think to look on Friday, but they turned out pretty cute.

Mimi through a glass door.
POTD 10/19/10: Leiden and I did some makeup today. She was evidently practicing for Halloween, as she painted my face to look like a tiger. Can you see the little triangular swatches, and the whiskers, and the cat mouth?
Best of all, she labeled her art work on my neck: CAT.
I think I make a pretty passable tiger.

Halloween is Coming!

It's the countdown to the big day!

Here's Miriam 10/11/10:

POTD 10/11/10: Mac gets really excited about taking pictures every once in a while. She always tries to hold it up to her eyes like I have to with the DSLR.

Miriam 10/12/10: We went to the park and had a great time playing with friends. Mimi got a turn in the swings, and she seemed to like it a lot better than the last time I had her in one!

She also enjoyed the bevy of wood chips at her disposal.
Tasty.
Mimi loves sitting on the grass, and I feel a little better about her eating leaves than woodchips. If she has something to watch, I think she'd stay sitting on the grass until the cows came home.
POTD 10/12/10: We got our pumpkins today! Little pie pumpkins all in a row.
The bigger varieties on the porch.
Miriam 10/14/10: The girls and Brad and I all got Halloween cards in the mail today from Grandmere and Bapa. Mimi chewed on hers for a bit.
POTD 10/14/10: Leiden pulled this hilarious face at her spooky ghost card.
Mac's reaction wasn't as noteworthy, but I went up to her room the next day, and she'd hung it on her wall with some tape. It's really cute--about Mac eye-level on her wall. She is such a sweetie.
