Busy day, today!  This little one had her first official lesson.  I think she was a little disappointed that she came out of it only having learned really how to hold the instrument and how to pluck the strings.  I think she expected to come out playing at least peanut butter sandwich.  ;)

The other girls were excited to sit and keep themselves quietly busy.  They are sweet little things when they want to be.  They were very encouraging of Mimi and excited to have her go to her lesson.

After all was said and done, we got a thumbs up!

It's still Girl Scout Cookie season, and I had a last minute pull over to a stand I saw.  These thin mints are very very dangerous.

The day went on to be eventful, with fires in the oven.  I don't even know what caught, but it was a decent blaze.  And of course I whipped my phone out BEFORE I put it out.  Priorities, people!  It actually burned itself out shortly after the pic was taken anyway.  Although the smoke alarms did get set off.

After clearing the air of smoke, we made the cookies that formed these little guys!  My materials differed a little from the 'recipe' online, but I thought they turned out pretty cute.  Not, of course, like the blog I got the idea from, but they almost never turn out THAT well!  The girls should like them and have fun with them!

Here's Mac, forming the little bunny behinds.

Both Mimi and Mac are looking a little ...overdone...for these pics.  They were so proud of their makeup application so I let them keep it on for the rest of the day.

They liked the cookies...and especially liked eating them!

So, funny, because I don't even HAVE a bracket, but I found myself cheering on yet another March Madness game tonight for the Elite 8 match ups.  I think my date loved me for being willing to entertain this as our activity!  But really, who can pass up some Buffalo Wild Wings?!

Well, I finally did it.  I walked into a gun shop and bought one.  Woohoo!  I'm super excited about my purchase.  It's a Springfield XDM, .40 caliber, 3.8 inch barrel, with both compact and regular magazines.  Seriously so thrilled.

Now I've just got to get it out there and shoot it!

Tonight Amy and I went to dinner to watch the University of Utah/Duke game.  We went to a sports bar, and this was my dessert.  Crazy.  Phone is for scale.

The U lost, and Duke moves on to the next March Madness showdown, but it was fun to be in an atmosphere where everyone was cheering and having a good time, not to mention some good girl time!

Third Violin

I haven't taken pics of everything, but it's Spirit Week at the elementary.  Today was mustache day!  I knew it was coming up, so yesterday we went to Zurchers and bought some mustaches for the girls to wear.  This morning I thought it would be funny for all of us to put one on before they left.  And I TOTALLY took a picture of that!

Mimi has been asking to play the violin.  Leiden's teacher agreed to teach her, so today we went and got her one!  She is super excited!  I don't know how long this will actually last, though, so here's to an experiment.

She has a tiny little 1/8 size which just seems ridiculous!  When we got home I got mine out to compare.  I thought LEIDEN'S was small!

Sweet little Meemers, I sure hope this is a success, because you look awfully cute.

Trying to document myself a little more, here, and took this one before a run this morning.  Check out that sky!  Gorgeous blue ombre with clouds!

And then this was waiting in the mail this afternoon!  This is the BEST!  I had purchased a bunch of stuff for Derek during the deployment last year, so I reaped the benefits of those purchases!  Can't wait to spend it!

Mimi is my laundry helper.  Which means she likes to play in it.  She's super helpful.  ;)

Tonight the girls are being watched by Bapa while I go with Grandmere to a Relief Society party tonight.  We were running late up there, so I had to stop at Wendy's for dinner.  We are eating out a lot more than I would like.  It seems like dinner creeps up on me and I have less patience for cooking on top of everything else!

We sure had a fun time at the Relief Society party, though!  We had tasty waffles with ice cream and toppings.  I think it was a success!  I was asked to take pictures of the evening, so that was fun, too.  Hopefully I got some decent shots that they will like!

Crazy Hair Day!

Crazy Hair Day at the elementary, today!  I used hair spray paint to crazy up the girls' hair.  They loved it!

Mac wanted all three colors.  Of course!

They are ready to be crazy!

I've been running in the mornings when Mimi is at preschool.  It works out really well.  I usually just hang out up in Holladay and run there.  Today I got a PR, which was awesome!  I broke the 9:30 barrier!  I don't seem to be having problems with my shins like I did a couple years ago, so I am feeling like I can run a little faster.  I'm still kind of a wimp, though.  Lots of walking because I feel like I simply can't go another step running!  Which is silly and totally psychological.

Mimi gave me this sweet little flower today.  It's too bad they are weeds.  They are actually quite pretty.

Then she was super cuddly after church.  I WISH she'd take a nap!  But I'll settle for cuddling up on the couch for a few minutes.

This evening we headed out for dinner at Uncle Pete's house.  The girls love to go there and bring their American Girl Dolls to play on their little community playground.  And its totally warm enough to do it!

This one was snapped for a different purpose, but it turned out to be a good one of Joni and a funny one of Mad!

Lovely day, today.  With the girls for part of it, then plans in the evening after they went with Brad.  We headed off to the theater to see Cinderella.  I was pretty excited.  I've heard great things about it, and was happy to watch a show with the girls that isn't animated!  Love these little people!

The movie was super cute, and the girls liked it, too.  Mimi had the tiniest tricky time sitting still...I guess she's still in animated age, but it really was a fun show to take them to!

The theater has magnolia trees!  These are my favorite trees in the Spring by far!  Gorgeous flowers.  And super appropriate here on the first day of Spring!

Tonight I went out with my parents' dinner group.  We went to Cheesecake Factory, where I was excited about both cheesecake, AND a pina colada!  I think it's my favorite drink!

If You Like Pina Coladas...

I came up with this bright idea, today.  Had this can of pineapple juice in the cupboard, and it's going to expire soon, so why not team it up with my super exciting coconut syrup and some Sprite!  It was REALLY good!

Happy (Late) Birthday, Grandmere!

Today we celebrated Grandmere's birthday, a little belatedly!  She requested chocolate torte with raspberries!

We love Grandmere.  She is loads of fun, and we don't get as many pictures of her as we would like.  ;)

She loves this flourless cake!  The girls were worried she might actually scarf it down.

Complete with singing and wish making.

Then came present time!

We got her a necklace she liked.  It's actually one I already have, so we can be matchy matchy!  I'm sure she's super excited about THAT part.

We love you so much, Grandmere!  Hope your (belated) birthday was awesome!

St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  What a feast awaited the girls when they woke up!  Rainbows and green and gold!

Close ups on some of the delicacies with their cute little tags.

Plated, ready to eat!

And I'm wearing green, ready to be pinch proof!

Later this afternoon, Mom came over and we got underway on some baby shower preparations for Joni's shower next month.  Cute little baby onesies.
