The day has finally come!  Zada is 6 months old and ready to eat real food!!  She can sit up completely unassisted, so here we go!

We started out with a raw onion.  She went to town on it, and actually liked it.  She didn't take any bites, but she gummed it and kept putting it back in.  She would take it out and look at it with a very intent sort of puzzled face, and then munch on it some more.  So fun!

I cut the veggies specifically for her at dinner, and we all sat in awe as she tried all the things.

She seemed to really like the broccoli, continually putting it in her mouth,

taking it out and peering at it,

and then putting it back in for more!

She managed to break off a little bit and was a bit perplexed.

She also tried chicken thigh, which wasn't super her favorite.

All things, however, are worthy of thorough investigation!

She thought this was great fun, and was in good spirits.

She also tried beet, apple, and sweet potato!  Go Zada!!

This is what I do with bub while I bathe in the mornings...it may have to stop pretty soon, because she isn't so content to sit and just look at the elephant anymore!

She wants to get up and go!

This dang tooth is struggling to come in.  The white spot has been there for several days and every morning I poke around in there hoping to feel its sharp edge, but not yet!

Miss Zada was having a great time with the colander this evening.  An enormous chew toy!

She has started doing this funny thing when we hold her...she just rears back trusting we will catch her!

Mimi's creative endeavors today included making her very own braces.  I believe these were made out of tin foil!

Primary!  She is so funny in Primary.  She loves singing time, and watches the children with great interest!

Today we went to Thanksgiving Point with Jon's family.

Zada loves flowers!  They are bright and colorful, and everywhere!

She was such a cutie and in such good spirits the whole time.

Luckily it was a bit breezy so she was comfortable in long sleeves and her hat, which also kept off the sun!

She finally had had enough, and fell asleep right on Daddy.  Sweet girl just got carried around while she slumbered.

After we got home, Jon broke out the new lawn mower!

Zada really likes being outside, so Mimi and I took her out to meet Jon when he came home.

Storms were brewing, but Daddy was home, so who cares?!

She got to munch on an orange slice today.

First it was sweet and tasty,

then she must have gotten a taste of the bitter white rind!

We have been doing really well with our recent push to pray and read scriptures each morning before school.  Zada likes to participate as well, holding the book for Mac while she reads.

I hope these few moments in the mornings set a good tone for the girls.  I feel like as soon as we get up they have forgotten everything and don't think about it the rest of the day, but the habits are important, and perhaps they retain more than I think they do.  We want to have a strong home and family!

Aaaaaand, we have a tooth coming!!!  Tooth number one is officially a visible white spot on her gums!  Hopefully it cuts quickly.

Mimi wanted to do my hair today and video me slowly sitting up so the reversal would look like my hair laid down on the ground and curled nicely.  It only kind of worked, but I love her creative ideas!  I also love having my hair played with.

More eating fun!

Today I tried a different spoon I had from when I watched Thomas, and it only went a little better.  Sometimes she wants nothing to do with it, and others I can't seem to get the cereal in her mouth fast enough.  She is much more interested in playing with the utensils than eating what's on them if I'm going too slow and she hits her limit of patience!

Jon figured out that if he just scooped it into her mouth that was fast enough!

We had some chocolate eggs that were begging to be eaten, and Mac wanted to make nest cupcakes.

She loved how they turned out!  And now we get to eat the chocolate eggs WITH cake and frosting!  Her idea was brilliant!

Miss Zada tried her first real "solid" foods today!  Baby oatmeal!  We got her this little spoon and fork set that is really easy for her to grip.

NOT so easy for me to feed her with, which honestly isn't their purpose.

Despite her face, this was a successful bite!

Although pretty much the only bite.  After that she just wanted to hit and play with the spoon.  But not put the business end in her mouth.

Jon had the great idea to hand her the little fork and try again...to no avail.

She just batted away the spoon I would try to feed her with, so I finally just gave up and handed it to her.

Then that wasn't enough, and she wanted the bowl of cereal!

But now we can tell the pediatrician we have started solids before 6 months, and we will start table food next week at the 6 month mark!

Happy Easter!  We took Miss Zada to Temple Square today to see the tulips and get out on this beautiful Easter Sunday.

She was so dang cute, and the grounds were lovely.

It was rainy and a little bit chilly, so she was bundled up for much of it.

She was fascinated by the flowers.  She started out just touching them,

And just after this picture she had ripped off a petal!  It was fun to take our Sunday walk and get some good pictures together.

We are getting so close to her 6 month mark, and we have decided we will start her on baby oatmeal tomorrow!  Such an exciting milestone!  We celebrated with gnawing on a collard green.
