Lake Mary Hike

There is still much snow in the mountains, but we decided we would head up for a hike today to a summit above Lake Mary.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  This was where we were headed, but as we approached the lake, it was clear there was too much snow, and it melty and rotten, for us to safely make the trek.

The lake looked lovely, as mountain lakes do, and it was ringed in ice!

We wanted to go around and go a bit further up on the side where there was less snow, but that meant climbing a fence and honestly going where we weren't exactly authorized to go!  Of course there is only proof and evidence that *I* did it...Jon would be in the clear!

And just like that, out of the trespass area!

Yay!

It was a glorious morning, with white snow, bright green growing things, and the deep blue sky and water.

From the side, there was quite the view of the valley below, but we still weren't able to make it much higher.  This side had far less snow, but we would have had to scramble up a considerable scree to reach the top.

On the way back down, hiking through the snow fields, I had a hard time maintaining upright posture!  Which seems to be par for the course for me!  I slid down most of this hill on my backside.

I am doing some drill work for an order I have to finish this week with block lettering, and I love how the letters all look marching across the page.  This is a large order, and I'm a bit nervous about its completion.

After a hike, a carb night is always in order.  We headed downtown to Bruges Waffles and Frites.  While we were waiting for our waffles, we spotted this woman having dinner with her macaw companion on the chair next to her.  Everyone who walked by stopped and ooohed and ahhhhed.  It really was a beautiful bird.

Waffles were delicious, and it was a fun date night after a fun date day!!
