Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day!  This is such a wonderful holiday.  I love it.  I love all the trappings of it.. the barbecues and the fireworks, and the flags and the watermelons.  But, this is such a special holiday.  The United States of America is a beautiful, wonderful, God-blessed land.  We enjoy freedoms that are unique to this country, and we are taught that this country was founded with the direction of God.  We are so blessed to live here.  I salute the American Flag proudly, and am so privileged to call myself an American.

That said, we had a great day!  We got the pool out at Grandmere and Bapa's, where the festivities were being held.

There was much meat to be had, with the grilling done by the excellent Wilding men.

The girls insisted on these tiny little red, white, and blue cupcakes for the occasion...they may have been right in their insistence...

The girls wish everyone a Happy Independence Day to everyone, as well!

After the barbecue and socializing, we headed out to the new house for fireworks.  We got out the sparklers, which Mimi liked but was a little leery of the sparks getting close to her fingers.

Leiden was equally cautious..

And Mac wasn't having any.  She was not interested in holding it, or even being close to it.  Goodness.

We just bought some fountains and ground flowers...the girls got in their jammies, dressed up, and brought out their American Girl dolls to sit on the blanket with them.

Mac was a little shy of them, even the ones in the street, but gave it all the good college try, and deemed it acceptable.
