Swimming

Brad and I took the girls to Medicine Lake for Family Home Evening tonight.  They had a great time.  Mac is still doing REALLY well in the water.  She takes a deep breath, puts her head in, kicks her legs out, and tries to swim.  It's a little unnerving to look up from Mimi and see Mac facedown in the water, but Brad was supervising.  Leiden is not nearly as likely to put her face in, but she loves to doggy paddle around.  Mimi.  Mimi in a lake.  She is so upset that she has to hold your hand.  She tries to pull away, and then promptly falls in and you have to grab her out.  If you're holding both her hands, she gets mad and pulls her legs up so her head goes under before you can react.  She also tries to put her face in.  Without understanding that you can't breathe under there.  We'll try to keep her in the water as much as we can, but I don't think lessons are a good idea for her--not for a while, anyway, because lessons up to 36 months are done with a parent.  And that's exactly what she doesn't want.

It is always better when she'll stay where it's shallow.  Then she can walk without holding hands and if she falls, her whole body doesn't go under.

Mac and Leiden love to swim!
