Mac's Birthday Party

Here is the record of the big day! It was such a wonderful evening. I was originally worried because we had it scheduled for an evening with dinner. Mac is not always at her best in the evening. I envisioned screaming and back arching, but she did great. She took a really long nap that afternoon at my grandpa's house, and woke up with just a bit of time to spare before guests came. There were no break downs the whole night.

Here is the completed cake. Still not sure about the green 'vines' or 'stems'. Brad kept asking me what they were. I do not claim to be a cake decorator. I also think they are a bit too dark. Oh, well. I liked the overall effect.

Mac's little cake was just one little layer with a few flowers and a giant candle.

We had these great big poufy tissue paper flowers that we hung from fishing line--thanks, Amy, for finding them at the store!

Mac has decided that walking is an option for her, and she gets pretty darn excited about the whole thing. If only she could get to her feet from the floor. She falls and then fusses, instead of just crawling to something to get up.

Of course, she is not incredibly steady....

The girls

Eating her cake: we all thought she would just jump into her cake. She is pretty grabby as it is, but she very calmly and gracefully ate tiny amounts at a time.

She did manage some mess, though, and the frosting was of the pretty greasy variety.

This meant a bath in the kitchen sink! What a great end to a great party. Thanks, everyone, who came!

You didn't post the pictures with the faucet in her mouth. Such a cute and funny girl. I can't believe she is one!
