The Big Day is finally upon us! Leiden's bus comes to get her at 8:40 AM, so we headed out a few minutes early to get some pictures. She was pretty excited.
She is also pretty excited about her new backpack. She actually needed a new one because her Kindergarten backpack wore through on the bottom! Rainbow-various-large-cat design is awesome. So is the matching lunch bag.
Mac was very excited for Leiden. When Mac's in a good mood, she is amazingly thoughtful, kind, and sweet--much more than you might think a 3 year old would be. She came into our room this morning and said, "Mommy, it's Leiden's first day of First Grade!"
Mimi has come down with a cold somewhere (Grrrrrrr), so she was barely willing to take a girls picture.
But as soon as no one was trying to hold her in one spot, she was thrilled to be outside with Leiden and Mac. She was also sporting an awesome runny nose that was wiped like three times while waiting for the bus.
Leiden and her friend around the corner, Gavin, are the only kids at the bus stop. Unfortunately this year, Leiden has to cross the street for her bus stop, so we'll have to watch out for her extra carefully. At least by the time she catches her bus, all the speeding teenagers will already be at school.
Coming home she was just as excited as going! When asked how her day was, she said, "Good!" I'm glad she had a good time and survived the day without mishaps. A successful first day under our belt!
