Indoor Sky Diving

If you remember, the girls got indoor sky diving lessons from Grandmere and Bapa at Christmas, and we finally got around to a Saturday we could all go and have a great time!  It was pretty amusing...the guys they have there to do the lessons are real sky divers, and they are pretty classic kind of guys you would picture up jumping from planes.  The girls had to watch a little training video, which taught them how to move their bodies to move as they need to while in the wind tunnel.

Then they suited up in their flight suits!

We were all so excited to even just SEE them participate.  They donned goggles and borrowed hair ties from the company.

With helmets and a pair of borrowed shoes from the company for Mimi, they were ready to go in!

They got to go in one at a time several times, for a total of 10 minutes each.

They were in there alone with the trainer, and he would give them instructions and help them have as much fun as possible.  They did SO GREAT, and it was a blast to watch them.

Mac and Leiden did really well.  Mimi was a little less able to process the instructions, but still had such fun.  Leiden was free diving within just a few minutes.

Mac had a few moments of free diving herself.

At the end, the trainer got the girls all out, then showed us what a professional is able to do!  He was incredible.  Your body moves in the wind tunnel based on its position and how high the wind speed is.  As you change your body position, very slightly, you go up or down.  The trainer, in logging hundreds of hours, was able to fly straight up the tunnel, drop like a stone, then catch himself right before he hit the floor.

The verdict was that this was a SUPER cool activity.  It's too bad it's so expensive!  We were so grateful to Grandmere and Bapa for their generosity.
