Busy Day!!

Today Mac participated in a mini triathlon for kids!  Her dad introduced her to the idea and helped her train a bit.  I think as a symptom of her general off-ness lately, she wasn't sure she wanted to participate, but did decide to do it.  We wanted to support her in every way, so the other girls made her signs to hold up as she passes by.  Leiden's was colorful and encouraging.

Mimi's was hilarious.  "You can do it."  "I believe in you.  Even the bee does."  "Swim, bike, and have fun!"  "You as a bug."  A super funny insight to Mimi's head.  Cute little pictures and inspirational comments ranging from encouraging to just plain funny!

Jon's sign was completed on the way up to the event in Farmington...we cut big letters out of construction paper and taped them onto a black thick posterboard.  We should be able to make ourselves noticeable as she swims, bikes, and runs by!

First was swimming.  After getting her tracking device, she hopped in and Brad went in after her.

She did great, pulling ahead of several children who were ahead of her.  She is a strong swimmer.

As she was finishing up the swim, we headed outside so we could catch her running from the pool to the bike stands.

She looked thrilled!!

She quickly put on her shoes, etc., and zipped away on her bike.  We cheered as loud as we could!

Then we sat for a while, waiting for her to return and leave on the run.

When she finally came back in from the run, she had a big grin on her face, and we again yelled and waved our signs around.

And through the finish line she went!

She was so pleased with herself!

And we were so proud of her efforts!

She finished in 39 minutes, 9 seconds.  This was 19th in the youth group, and 5th in her age division.  She did great!

It was fun to go support her...I was glad we had made the posters, because honestly I was surprised that not very many people did that for their people!  I hope they helped her feel special and supported!

After we came home, it was more working in the garden!  We had manure and other additives to get into the soil, so to work we went.  The girls wanted to help for the first bit, then their attention spans waned, and it was a bit chilly.

We saw a resurgence of helpfulness once it was time to get the plants into the ground, though!  We planted curly kale, lacinato kale, collard greens, watermelons, baby broccoli, brussel sprouts, asparagus, and regular broccoli.

We feel as though we are masters over our domain!!

THEN, it was time to go to Thomas' birthday party!  Happy 2nd birthday, little man!

He was thrilled with his presents, and it was fun to sit around with family and just relax.

By the time we all got home, we were tired and the girls were a little ornery, but it was a full busy day doing important things!
