Everyday Life

POTD 7/19/10: The maiden mow here.

I failed to get any pictures of the process, etc., but our carpet was also installed this same day. It looks great, but they nicked my newly painted floorboards EVERYWHERE. Not just a few 'oops' type things. Everywhere. I am not happy, and probably would have waited to paint them until after the installation had I known.

That all would explain why this is Miriam 7/19/10: The carpet installation was so loud, I finally had to put her in the sun room for her naps. She didn't mind.

POTD 7/20/10: This was morning snack today. Certainly healthier than some I've been known to hand out!

Miriam 7/20/10: Here she is, surrounded by the mess of stuff in what is supposed to be our formal living room. There are clothes everywhere.

I propped her up in the upstairs hall while I went outside on the upper deck to paint some doors. (You can see the carpet in the background, as well as the neutral paint that now adorns the walls.) Anyway, this is how she started,

And this is how she ended up!

Leiden is still ever into drawing. She came to show me this and told me it was Saturn. Well, yes, it is.
Miriam 7/21/10: She gets frustrated, and that often results in crying, but every once in a while, she just finds her thumb, and lies there.
POTD 7/21/10: Painting doors is really tedious. Especially these 6 panel doors, with which you have to make certain your brush strokes are going the right direction. The back two have had a coat, the closest hasn't. Love high gloss ultra bright white!
Mimi has this...um...great habit of sucking her thumb while she eats solids, so after every bite, her thumb goes in her mouth. And it's not enough to have her left thumb in, she likes to use her right hand to hold her left there. So her face and hands get extraordinarily messy when she eats.
Sometimes she looks sufficiently abashed. Miriam 7/22/10:
And other times she's just hanging out, trying to figure out why mom is taking yet another picture.
She is also SUPER grabby these days. She likes hair, other people's cups, glasses, and if that fails, she likes to grab Brad's face.
Okay, so the full story on this will come in the next post, because at the time I took the picture I didn't know the whole story--part of the beauty/curse of being behind in blogging is that you are writing only in the past, even when you know what happens later. Anyway, the girls leave the back door open a lot, and we've had these GIANT flies--they are dime sized. Pesky little suckas. I got this one right at the kitchen window, and so he fell into the sink. They are really gross looking flies, with giant bodies, and bright orange eyes. Uggh. (Please excuse the food in the drain catcher thingy--I was doing the dishes at the time...) POTD 7/22/10:
