Checkups

Leiden and Mimi went in today for well checks.  They saw a new doctor in the office.  She's a woman, and I decided Leiden might be getting to the point where she's more comfortable with a woman doctor than a man.  Mac will still see the old pediatrician because he's managing her anxiety medications.

The girls are growing, and the sheets below aren't quite accurate, as these are really late 12 and 7 checks.  Leiden, at 12 years 9 months or so is in the 34.4% for weight, and 53.3% for height.  She's a petite one.  The doctor says she will attain a bit more height, but once girls hit puberty, they don't usually grow too much more.  We shall see!  This girl is eating good foods and drinking raw milk!  The doctor was a bit concerned about her spine, though, which has me worried.  She has always had a little extra bone on her breastbone in the front, and no doctor has ever seemed concerned by it, but this one is concerned it's caused partly by a curvature of the spine outside the normal range.  So we have had x-rays ordered to get it checked out for sure.  The treatment depends on what they find.  If the curvature is less than a particular amount, there is nothing that needs to be done except keep an eye on it.  If it is more pronounced between two particular values, she would have to wear a brace to straighten it out over time.  If the curvature is severe, surgery is on the table.  We are praying it isn't as bad as the doctor's concern seemed to be.

Mimi at almost 8 years is in the 90.5% for weight, and 99.6% for height.  Still SO tall.  It will be very interesting to watch her keep growing.  She will likely pass us all up!
