Labor Day

Finally got all the school supplies--except one thing--for Leiden to take tomorrow.  It's been a bit of a whirlwind since we've been back!  Leiden's bag is packed up and enormous for her to take tomorrow!

We womped up these teacher gifts.  I had seen this idea a while ago, and it was simple.  The hardest part was making the cookies small enough that they would fit inside the opening of the jar!  This year is strange, because we haven't met Leiden's teacher.  We missed the school open house night last week where we normally would have gone and met her and brought her this gift.  I feel like Leiden's going in blind!  But, she says her teacher was a first grade teacher last year, so Leiden at least knows who she is by sight.  She'll be fine!

Our ward's annual Labor Day picnic was today.  We were at the lake and Brad and some other guys were out throwing a football in the water.  The next thing I know they are all huddled together with some of them going underwater.  Someone came up to me and said that she thought one of them had lost their wedding ring.  Yeah.  It was Brad.  Which is pretty crazy, because the thing is hard to get off his giant knuckles!  The pond was pretty slimy here at the end of the summer, and I'm pretty sure that's how it slipped off.  He felt it coming off, so he didn't move from the one spot until they could mark it with some big rocks.  They were out there looking for a long time, with no luck.  Then randomly, a woman came up and asked what was going on.  After they told her, she told them that her husband has an underwater metal detector!!  She said she would let Brad know when she could get hold of him.  Brad went back to the lake later and met them there.  They went out to the spot where Brad had marked, and the guy was getting ready to use his detector, when his daughter dove under, grabbed a handful of sand, and randomly pulled up his ring!  It was crazy.  Brad was so happy it had been found--frankly, it's a miracle.  And it was awfully nice of this family to be willing to help!

The girls each got back to school father's blessings, tonight, before hitting the pillow pretty early.  Even Mimi got a blessing.  Tomorrow is the first day of school!
