Another really great trip to the zoo!  We got there with just slightly more than an hour before closing, and that combined with the chilly temperatures, there was hardly anyone there, and that time of day the animals are wide awake and interesting.

As we watched the giraffe/zebra/warthog/ostrich enclosure, we got to watch the animals playing.  The warthog was running around the enclosure and the zebras were chasing it at full speed!  They went around and around.  It was hysterical.  The lions are just on the other side of the train tracks, and they were watching the chase with great interest, prowling along the edge of their enclosure as the warthog would run by.  I'm sure they felt very keenly their inability to hunt!

When we made it over to the lions, one of the females would break from eyeing the warthogs and zebras and come over to the glass, right where we were.  It's pretty amazing that we can see these amazing animals up close like this.  Zada was inches away from a giant lioness!  And of course, she was at times more enthralled with the kids next to us than the great beast in front of her!

The rhinos and elephants were all very close to the viewing areas, too.

We have really enjoyed this zoo membership!
