December 10

Today's activity? Heading out to see the big man himself. The wait in line for Santa at the mall was ridiculously slow moving, so we waited for about an hour and a half. The girls did really well, and luckily Brad was able to take the day off, so he came and met us there and kept them diverted for much of the time. Mac was experimenting with sound control.

Mimi and her makeshift bib (read: a shirt tied around her neck) hung out in the stroller to have some yogurt smoothie.

Mac was looking pretty with a little headband in.

Poor Leiden, with her chapped lips and pinkeye. Yes, pinkeye. She came home from school on Thursday complaining that her eye itched. By morning it was goopy and pink. So to the doctor we went. Her lip is looking so much better, by the way. It might actually heal the way it's supposed to, which considering how it looked in the first minutes after it happened, is nothing short of miraculous.

See that devious glint in Mac's eyes? Things got a little squirrely after about the hour mark.

Leiden told me she just wanted to sit. "I've been standing for too long. My legs are soooo tired."

Miriam 12/10/10: And then there's Mimi. She can't get enough standing time. Daddy walked around with her for a bit, too.

This is my version of the Santa picture. No flash, but they still had a lot of artificial light aiming at the chair. Mimi could not stop looking at Santa. I'm seriously surprised she did not try to grab his beard and suck her thumb.

This is their version. My biggest complaint? Mimi looks like a...well...like a bit of a blockhead! I love her dearly, but it's so hard to get her to smile!

I'll definitely scope it out next year before I go...this place had Santa and one other person manning the whole thing. So she went to let people in to see Santa, she took the pictures, and she rang up everyone's purchases while the long line lingered. Uggh. And what the heck happened to Santa's big red coat and black boots? Crocs? Really? Double uggh.
